Huntr/x Takes NYC: Inside the K-Pop Demon Hunter Brooklyn House
If you're a fan of K-Pop Demon Hunter, the animated musical urban fantasy film on Netflix, this one-of-a-kind creative house is your dream destination. Located at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the house was specially designed for K-pop lovers visiting KOOM 2025, the Korean Startup and Culture Festival in Brooklyn New York. Hundreds of fans lined up to enter this creative pop-up, featuring the animated faces of Rumi, Mira, and Zoey members of the fictional K-pop girl group Huntr/x, the latest demon-hunting trio trained by legendary hunter Celine.
I still remember when the first flyer and trailer for K-Pop Demon Hunter appeared on my Netflix movie recommendations back in June 2025. Honestly? I wasn’t impressed. It didn’t make it to the top of my watchlist more like the last option.
But two weeks later, with nothing else to watch, I clicked "play"... and then, the magic happened.
I was completely surprised and impressed! The story, script, characters, voice acting, direction, and animation design were all top-tier. The plot, centered on Huntr/x versus the demon gang Saja Boys. good vs. evil, Golden vs. Soda Pop, and of course, the final glory of demon banishment was incredibly entertaining.
And now, as I write this blog, the film has reached a jaw-dropping 325.1 million views, becoming the most-watched title on Netflix, surpassing even Squid Game and Money Heist. Even the theme music made history. Golden, performed by Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami as Huntr/x, became the first female-led K-pop song to hit No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and won a Platinum Award. If you want more information about this movie, just google it, and you will find hundreds of behind the scenes articles.
Curious about what made this film such a phenomenon, I decided to visit the K-Pop Demon Hunter house at KOOM 2025, mid October-2025. I joined the guest line with other excited fans, eager to step inside. I could see, the exterior of the house featured giant animated versions of the Huntr/x trio, a great teaser for what was inside.
My first impression when I stepped in the main door? This is so cool! The walls were covered with action drawing-packed scenes from the film. At the entrance, I was given a pass card with directions and activity guidelines. Each time I passed a “counter,” I got a stamp like a passport through the world of Huntr/x.
Then, I started the experience: counter by counter.
1. “Come On, Let’s Play”. The Demon Dart Game
My first challenge: throw darts at a demon-themed game wall. If you hit a demon target, you win a prize. Unfortunately, after two throws, I didn’t hit anything... but still walked away with a souvenir. Not bad!
2. “Create Your Own Ramen”
Sponsored by a Korean noodle brand Nongshim, this counter lets you customize your own Korean ramen cup. I picked my favorite flavors and kimchi, labeled it with my name, and took it to-go for later. (Hot water is not included!)
3. “Pose Like a Demon Hunter”
One of the most fun parts was dressing up as a demon hunter! Costumes and a witch hat were available. (Confession: the hat didn’t fit over my baseball cap, so I kept my own style, staying with my black baseball hat.) A staff member snapped two free Polaroids of me, and my wife in full demon-fighting mode.
4. “Smile Big. It’s Caricature Time”
Here, you could ask an artist to draw your face as a demon hunter on a ramen cup. I skipped this one, just because I didn't wanna wait. Only two artist available to draw the noodle cups, and I just didn’t wanna wait.
5. “The Glory of Nongshim”. The Final Stop
Before exiting, we were allowed to choose a souvenir and take home a noodle cup featuring the faces of Huntr/x or the Saja Boys.
At the end, this wasn’t just a fan event, it was a good creative marketing strategy. The house combined immersive storytelling with smart branding, keeping fans entertained while keeping their loyalty to not just the film, but also to Nongshim noodles.
My opinion in short: fun, flavorful, and full of fandom. A perfect match between pop culture and product promotion.
